(Almost) the end of an era

April 20, 2007 | Life & Work | no comments

Well, today I told my manager that I’m thinking of resigning – as I have an offer from that place I went to the interview with on Monday.

Despite having worked in a few other jobs before, it has been really tough deciding whether to leave or not. Everyone thinks that a job in the APS is secure, and the people in HK would call it “iron rice bowl” (or something like that). But living in Brisbane, with no intention to move to the nation’s capital, at the end of the day advancement is hard to come by. There’re a lot of people fighting the same types of positions and recruitment always take so long. Plus, when I started there, I never really imagined myself working there for the next 20 years anyway….. So I just need to stop thinking about it!

ohh, just found this article and thought it was interesting!
