The Defenders 01×09: warm fuzzy feeling

I am feeling a little sad that I’ve finished half of the series already. But in contrast to previous episodes Nick takes on a civil case, helping a woman who lost her husband due to unsafe working conditions on a building site. Even though defence lawyers (Nick and Pete in particular had used a few tricks to win cases) are generally seen as slimy, immoral “blood suckers”, Nick here really has the heart to try to help others. Despite living the posh lifestyle we also see the difficulties for Nick to recover his fees from his non-paying clients, which brought some laughs.

Zoey: I have a favour to ask.
Nick: NO.
Zoey: You haven’t even heard what it is!
Nick: I don’t do favours.
Zoey: Not even for me?
Nick: Especially not for you, I pay you to answer my phone, manage my schedule….not hock me for favours.

Nick: Ever worked in construction Pete?
Pete: You see these hands Nick? I didn’t even play with Legos.
