I think I found my first grey hair today.
It’s funny how one little thing can suddenly affect your outlook in life. It’s like my old age is staring at my face already.
I suppose I should be grateful, because at my age, my mum already had to start dying her hair.
I spent much of today listening to Steve Linder – who is one of those motivational/life coaching type of guys. Wasn’t sure what to expect when I first heard about this, but the day went by incredibly quickly (we had lunch at 2pm and I didn’t even feel hungry!). Whilst just listening to him might not miraculously change your life, it does give you some alternative ways to look at things, which is quite beneficial. When I dig out my notes I might post some useful tadbits.
For some reason, I feel really exhausted, could be related to my ‘monthly visitor’, or this guy had made my brain work overtime? Who knows.
In other news, I caved in and pre-ordered the Jay Chou tickets last week. I’m really annoyed now because they ARE going to be selling on Ticketek (which was what I originally wanted, because it just felt more legit, and at least I’ll have an idea of where I’m sitting!!!). Crossing my fingers now but will definitely check out Ticketek and see what type of seats they’re selling. I’ve opted out of standing tickets because:
a) I want to SEE and don’t want to spend $488 to STAND!
b) The 2nd lot behind is still $248 which is not all that much different from the other actual seats.
Mid last week I noticed this bump at the back of my right ear. After a bit of googling I didn’t worry as much since it’s more likely to be a reaction to some infection than something worse like a tumour. Then it got worse, the bump became painful and my ears were swollen.

As I’m typing this post at my work desk, spending my time working instead of holidaying – I just wanted to declare that I am not a workaholic.
I’ve had my fair share of You’re working over Christmas/New Years?!?!? which probably meant Are you mad/crazy? But I’m here because I want time off in January (AO!) plus I hate the crowds around this time of the year anyway.
Additionally, as I walk around the local shopping centres I see heaps of other people working (and longer hours too!) serving screaming kiddies and their mothers, crazed shoppers and the like, and noone goes up to them and say – YOU’RE WORKING?!?!? ARE YOU A WORKAHOLIC?
I’ve been pretty productive over these quiet days, plus I can have my ipod on speakers and that would be ok. Oh, did I mention I get to park at the basement carpark too? Inner city parking for free – now that’s a perk I wouldn’t mind.
Happy New Year everyone!
Superannuation is a pension scheme in Australia. It has a compulsory element whereby employers are required by law to pay a proportion of employee’s salaries and wages (currently nine percent) into a superannuation fund, which can be accessed when the employee retires.
When I started my first full time job I didn’t know much about super. At that time you couldn’t choose where your money would go, so I basically just filled out the forms my employer gave me and that was it.
Cut to a few years later – I left that job and they sent me a bunch of paperwork about Super. I thought that I had the option of rolling that money over to another fund since that particular fund is only open to public servants.
But I was wrong! *waves a stick at PSS*
That money is not available to be rolled over, and I have no choice but to leave it there (possibly for another 30+ years, if I don’t ever work for the Government again).
WTF.
Adding to this the super co-contribution bonus had just been paid to there as well. Grr. I am annoyed, but I can’t do anything about it!
