In Mario Ancic’s ongoing battle with injuries, (what are they now? I can’t even keep track…) it’s not surprising he’s going to get some work experience in a law firm during the downtime. Might as well make himself useful.
http://www.javno.com/en-sports/mario-ancic-quit-tennis-started-working-in-law_274689
Croatian tennis player Mario Ančić hired in July this year in the law office of Mary Turudić, located in Gajeva Street in Zagreb. Recently he has seen in the building of the Commercial Court filing submitted to the client. That he is hired in the law office, for Javno confirmed to in a telephone interview, and his ‘head’ attorney Marija Turudić.
The headline to that story is “Mario Ancic quits tennis, starting working in law” – which is worrying! I’ll believe it when I see an announcement on the ATP website though. If they did one for PimPim, then Mario really deserve one.
Generally, I don’t have a good impression of guys who work as lawyers. Their heads tend to be bigger than they should be. (That is just from personal experience.) But let’s face it, in an adversarial situation, you need to be able to intimidate your opponents and there’s a degree of mind games involved. Maybe that’s why I thought Mario wasn’t that nice this year LOL!
I have become one of those people who only follow tennis religiously in January, when the Australian summer series is on. I do watch it when it’s on TV, and did see a couple of JCF matches from Montreal! (He was actually quite brilliant, wow! I thought I’d never say that again….) AND, he’s going to be seeded for the US Open. I think I’m totally behind on the happenings of JCF these days….
Anyway, a friend sent me this – even though I have no idea what they’re talking about, it’s still good. LOL @ JCF in his sleeping pants…. (in chinese, you would call it “double wind pipes” LOL) The video is like over an hour long, but you get to see his school, and his hotel. Not to mention there’re some rather “interesting” shots of him on the massage table. hmmm.

Happy new year! Yeah, it’s February lol. Nothing gets me back to writing more than some drama / rant.
It’s mini, since it’s kinda “resolved”? I don’t remember being involved in any e-dramas of late, but I’m having a rather interesting discussion with a person on the JCF site’s tagboard.
May I state right here, that despite the fact the site is still around, and my yearly random posts which can venture into “fangirl” territory, I’m under no illusion that he’ll be back at the top 10? Actually, I have no illusions about his results at all. This is what happens when you’ve seen a few of his first round losses, and he played rather terribly. But you start to wonder, how many times will he be travelling here, for this?
I read this article a couple of weeks ago and found what Carlos [Moya] said is quite true, sad but touching…..
Q. What is the motivation? You’re rich, you have got many tournaments under your belt.
A. I love playing this game – the crowd, the people involved in the match, and you know still competing with such good guys. That’s what keeps me motivated and still having the feeling that I can beat these guys, you know. Also I want to reach my last goal which is to win 600 matches, so I think that’s my last goal. And, I am 20 matches away.Q. Oh 20?
A. 20 wins away, which is not a couple of months. It’s going to take, I don’t know how long, but that will be my last goal. I’m not saying if I get there I will quit, I’m just saying that’s my last goal.Q. Is it difficult, Carlos, to accept that your time at the top doesn’t last forever?
A. It depends on how you take it. It wasn’t tough for me to know that and to accept that. I know I’m playing differently than Roger is playing and Nadal is playing, but I still try to find all the motivations, and I’ve found them. And it’s just a question to accept them, to accept that you are never going to win a Slam again, you are not going to be the No. 1 player in the world again, not even the Top 10, but still you can find all the motivation, and that’s what I did.
[Update @ 2 Nov] I’m surprised Mardy Fish got the headline, a few weeks to go till the entry list is announced!
Since my interest in ‘blogging’ is quite low at the moment, I thought I’d post something useful for the time being.
Next January, my hometown Brisbane is finally getting a tennis tournament (merging of the Adelaide ATP event and the Gold Coast WTA events). Who will be going? Confirmed players so far:
ATP
Novak Djokovic, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Richard Gasquet, Gael Monfils, Marcos Baghdatis, Mardy Fish
WTA
Ana Ivanovic, Samantha Stosur
Players that definitely won’t be coming (because they’re confirmed elsewhere):
ATP: Marat Safin, Lleyton Hewitt (Hopman Cup)
WTA: Dinara Safina, Casey Dellacqua (Hopman Cup), Jelena Jankovic, Maria Sharapova (HK Exhibition)
