**I started writing this a month ago and finally finished! Lots of things happened in between which diverted my attention…lol**
Description from YesAsia
A year and a half after 007, Will Pan has come up with his highly anticipated new album, intriguingly titled 808. Named after a model of drum machines popular among hip-hop artists since the 1980s, the album carries other meanings for the Taiwan pop star, as he was born in August 1980, and this being his eighth album. Boasting a new retro-futuristic sound and image for Will, the very personal album features the dance floor-burning first single “Totally Wanted”, as well as “We are all afraid of pain”, the theme song for Will’s latest idol drama Endless Love co-starring Sandrine Pinna.Tracklist
01. 全面通緝 (Totally Wanted)
02. 未來愛情 (Future Love)
03. 觸動 (Touch)
04. U U U
05. 電腦 (Computer)
06. 次世代 (Second Generation)
07. 我們都怕痛 (We’re all afraid of pain)
08. 小小螞蟻 (Tiny little ant)
09. 我的電話 (My phone)
10. 肩膀 (Shoulder)
11. 最終 (Finally)
Thoughts
My interest in his music has only really begun since his 6th album “Play it cool” – where I think he had more control over his music and became more of a singer/song writer. Born and studied in the USA, some might still think of him as this “hip hop ABC rap cool dude wannabe”, but I think he’s gone past that now and capable of releasing some great pop music – trendy as well as putting cpop on the world map.

**UPDATED 2nd February 2011** Full version of lyrics added + translation!
After religiously following TMOJ for a few weeks now I thought I’d mix things up a bit by watching an idol drama!! LOL. Well, the main appeal is of course Will Pan, who I only “discovered” last year by watching his earlier series and eventually led me to Taipei Arena to see his concert in December 2009…..(!!! Good times!!!) “Endless Love” is his new drama which just started last week. I haven’t finished the first episode yet and already you know the formula is going to be: rich girl / poor guy, she already likes his other guy, but we all know she will fall in love with Will…. but her family probably objects…..they encounter some obstacles….etc etc. If it’s so typical, why am I watching? Well, that’s the point of idol dramas I guess, is the disconnect with reality. As long as there’re good lead actors, I watch. hahhaha.
On the song itself….
The full version is not out yet, this is only the TV version. The theme is called 我們都怕痛 (We’re all afraid of pain) – the video from the series is shot quite beautifully, so I can’t help but do a translation. Can’t wait to hear the full version!
In an effort to post more regularly, this new section is born. Since I’ve been quite lazy with translations for a few months now I’m hoping this will give me a little more practice. I don’t profess to be a very good translator, plus I haven’t had many Mandarin lessons, it was mostly learnt through watching TV series and listening to songs…. so the pinyin was done through an online translator and probably not 100% correct.
On the song itself….
I’ve only discovered Will Pan sometime last year by coincidence? Then became a fan after watching “Miss no good” and went back and listened to his songs. This particular one is quite old (from his Wu Ha album in 2004) but I like it a lot. It’s a love ballad, not too flashy but Tank’s music and lyrics really tells it like it is, making it a relatively easy one to translate! (Got to pick an easy one to start with!) Apparently (as noted by someone who commented in YouTube!) Tank wrote it based on his own experience…..btw his hair in the MV – so so bad!
After watching Jay Chou & Leehom Wang concert DVDs, I’ve always wanted to go to Taipei Arena to experience it for myself….. this maybe the chance!!
I’m having a crush on Wilber Pan (Wei Bo) right now, and thought I’d post his new single “Be with you”, which is a collaboration with Akon.
Honestly, I hate his new haircut, but I just discovered his music and found it quite addictive! Adding to this “addiction”, I’m also watching his series “Miss No Good“, which on paper, is not very interesting (plus Rainie Yang’s talking and outfits are rather crazy!) but surprisingly, I’m really enjoying it! Granted I’m watching it for Will, but if you can get past Rainie’s annoying voice and her naiveness in the series, it’s actually quite good.
Up to episode 9 now (after only a week!) but I’m about to exceed my d/l limit so I have to wait another two weeks to see more… ARGH!
